Here's the 4-1-1: J and I both have full time jobs (other than parenting and being wicked cool) and we work pretty opposite hours so that we don't have to worry about daycare for the kidlings very often (maybe once a week). And when we are home together, we have 2 monsters running around consuming all of our energy and attention. Sometimes at the end of the day, we both lie in bed, look at each other, say "I love you" (and occasionally "did you know that you have ketchup in your ear?") and then lights out. As most of you mama's and papa's out there know, beyond that...its a bonus!
So, to rectify that we try and "sneak away" whenever we can for lunches, short dates, etc. whenever we can. Monday night, we were in bed and I said "I can take a long lunch tomorrow...wanna meet up?" J says "heck ya! Where?" I sat there and thought a minute and then thought: the zoo! We have never gone to the zoo alone since having Paetyn almost 5 years ago, so it was due.
It was a crisp and cool day in Portland, perfect for animal (and people) watching. We were able to grab a bite to eat and then snapped some pics of the animals who were all out for a good time.
