from the "fellow"...a Christmas poem

Jeremiah wrote this today while I was at work and just had to share...

"It was the night before the night before Christmas
The kids were unusually calm and pleasant
The threat paid off of Santa not bringing presents.

Mama left for work in the morn'
As an unlikely tradition was born
Holiday Spirit couldn't be any higher
'Til she was rear ended by another woman driver.

It was the night before the night before Christmas
Dada and the kids had errands to run
Thoughts of running to Target "this won't be fun."

Guest will be arriving in just a few hours
All that's missing are some poinsettia flowers
Dust has been dusted, Rocky and Tonka all brushed
With minutes to spare, vacuuming will be rushed.

It was the night before the night before Christmas
Paetyn was helping and acting quite big
Maddux was content on the couch watching Peppa Pig.

Visions of roast and eggs maranera
We make enough there's plenty to spare-a
Sweet and savory foods galore
Cold friendly beverages for you to explore.

It was the night before the night before Christmas
The kids have started acting all crazy and loud
Santa Claus threats have failed somehow.

Bedtime will be arriving quite soon
Penelope the hamster running in the light of the moon
Rocky and Tonka asleep in their kennel
Paetyn and Maddux nestled up with their pillows.

It was the night before the night before Christmas
Mama and I lie awake and it's clear
Santa's arrival will soon be here.

Still so much to do before that special day
Finish wrapping, baking cookies, make time to play
With frost starting to appear in the evening on the grass
I'm thankful it's only the night before the night before Christmas."

Happy holidays from the Rectors!
